Traditionally known for producing quality premium BJJ Gis, the ‘Red Label’ is Maeda Brand's entry into the basic Gi market at a price of just £67.99 which includes a complimentary white belt.
The Red Label Jiu Jitsu Gi is an extremely light Kimono, with the Jacket being made from 350 GSM super fine pearl weave. Despite the Gi being lightweight, it is surprisingly durable, with shrinkage from washing also minimal.
A major plus I found with the Red label is that it takes no time to dry, usually hang drying within 24 hours.

Despite being a basic gi and light, it is surprisingly durable. I have used the red label for the past few months regularly and it is still in good condition. Although one of the small woven patches has started to peel off a little the material of the Gi itself is sturdy.
The red label is an extremely well cut Gi, fitting pretty perfectly on myself (wearing an A2L at 6'2 and 93kg for reference)
Very minimal, the right arm sporting a small woven red patch and the left a larger Maeda logo embroidery. The back of the neck has another embroidery which is a nice touch, all in all the "style" of this kimono is limited but this is as expected at such a reasonable price.
Due to it being light and well cut it is comfortable during training sessions, it doesn't feel quite like the "Armour" of the YUREI Gi but still a solid piece of kit! I would recommend trying out a lighter BJJ Gi like this during summer training sessions for sure.
While competitors such as Tatami’s ‘Hokori minimal and Nova Mk4’ Gis are cheaper versions offering the same minimal basic specifications, at £67.99 the Red label is durable and well priced in my opinion. Maeda Brand's entry into the basic market is a strong start, with the 'Red Label' being super light and IBJJF legal, it also makes an excellent choice for competitors who need that little extra help making weight!
