With the Covid-19 outbreak spreading throughout the world, many Jiu Jitsu practitioners are having to self isolate at home and at the very least practice social distancing. Many governments throughout the world are putting measures in place to help 'flatten the curve' of the spread of the virus, because of this Jiu Jitsu practitioners are having to find ways to stay active from home.
At Fighters Market Europe we will be providing you with home workouts to keep you active while at home and reviews of resources to use, today is a look at the Yoga For BJJ site.
Yoga For BJJ is a website run by BJJ Black Belt Sebastian Brosche, Sebastian has a long history with grappling sports, being a Judoka originally, and being part of the Swedish national team. He would experience many injuries through the hard training around Europe as part of the Judo team. He would eventually find BJJ, and would instantly fall in love with the sport, preferring the informal vibe of BJJ. He would originally train more NoGi in a submission grappling team. He would eventually find his way to Oslo, and Frontline BJJ where he found his BJJ Home.
Sebastian is a prolific competitor winning the Weight and absolute division at the IBJJF Worlds at Purple belt, along with medals at brown belt at the IBJJF Worlds and Europeans. It is through the intense training for competition that he started to develop injuries he had suffered during his judo career. It is through his search to relieve these problems that he found a yoga instructor (who would become his wife and help in the building of Yoga for BJJ) and started to practice Yoga, offering a heightened sense of bodily awareness. He would begin to rid himself of these injuries. Sebastian notes that his Jiu jitsu would also improve because, as he notes, he was better able to move his body, with his new flexibility and strength, he would also be able to breathe better ! Sebastian notes that with his Yoga workouts he is doing Jiu Jitsu when he is performing his Yoga positions. It was through his progression with Yoga that Sebastian would eventually start up the Yoga for BJJ website offering Yoga courses for people both beginners and advanced in Yoga and tailor made for the Jiu Jitsu Practitioner.
