The second weekend of March promises to be an exciting one for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with the IBJJF Pans taking place across the pond. Today though, we look towards the city of London, as the UAEJJF makes its final stop for the competition season. March 10th to 11th marks the third edition of the London Grand Slam, a massive event which is known for its high level brackets and professionalism. For Those of you who don’t know, along with the National pro competitions the UAEJJF also runs a series of competitions known as ‘Grand Slam’ with it making its first stop in Tokyo, followed by the cities of Los Angeles, Rio de Janeiro, Abu Dhabi and finally London. A massive competition offering huge cash prizes and now as important, the chance to earn ranking points.
With the UAEJJF using its global ranking system to offer the top ranked competitors travel packages to the world pro, placing at the grand slam becomes even more important. At fightersmarket Europe we picked out some competitors to look out for at the London Grandslam, being European based the list has European flavour to it.

Ferrah Loutfi GF Team Paris -85kg: IBJJF European Champion at medium heavy, he won entry to the London Grandslam by winning his division at the UAEJJF Zagreb International pro. Watch out for his relentless top game!

Maarten Bauweens - Prana Jiu Jitsu -85kg: A world pro champion at blue belt, Belgian Maarten has hit the ground running at purple belt with multiple IBJJF and UAEJJF gold medals, known for the high pace he sets and his high level of athleticism, expect fireworks.
Bartosz Zawadski - Gracie Barra Sosnowiec -94kg: Ranked number one at purple belt in Europe, Bartosz has decimated his competition at the UAEJJF events. With a solid all round game, he will be looking to add to his long list of gold medals.
Elina Moestam - Prana Jiu Jitsu -55kg: Winner of the 2017 World pro, Elina is another athlete on this list from Swedish Checkmat affiliate. Watch out for her excellent guard play, which also helped her claim 1st place the IBJJF Europeans this year.
Sophie Cox - Factory BJJ -62kg: A two time Olympian in judo, representing Team GB at the Athens Games and London 2012. Since then Sophie has concentrated on her BJJ, as a blue belt she took gold at the IBJJF Europeans, and various double golds including at UAEJJF British Nationals 2017, where she won her ticket to the world pro, which she also won without a point being scored on her. A nice way to end her blue belt career. Her first competition at Purple belt was the IBJJF world masters where she won her division and placed second in the absolute. Watch for some Olympic standard judo and high level top pressure.

Sean Coates - Gracie Barra Nottingham -94kg: After his excellent run at purple belt, medalling at the worlds twice and the Europeans. Sean has hit the ground running at Brown belt, hitting the podium at every UAEJJF competition he’s taken part in including a double gold at the Scottish National Pro, and as the rankings currently are, the Progress Jiu Jitsu and Fighters Market sponsored athlete will be going to the World Pro.
Matheus Felipe Da Silva Xavier - Checkmat -110kg: The number one ranked UAEJJF Brown belt in the world. This man has decimated the European scene recently, competing at all the UAEJJF National pros in Europe walking away with double gold at every event. Winner of the Ultra heavyweight division at the IBJJF World Championships, he looks unstoppable at the minute.
Ffion Davies - CF24/ECJJA -55kg: Winning the ADCC European Trials as a purple belt beating seasoned black belt competitors and placing 2nd at the IBJJF Worlds closed out her purple belt career. However this Kingz sponsored athlete has continued her success at Brown belt, placing second at the IBJJF Europeans and winning multiple matches on Polaris. Watch out for her heavy top pressure and passing.
Amal Amjahid - CENS Academy -55kg: The best Brown Belt female in Europe if not the World, after winning double gold at the 2017 IBJJF Europeans and placing 2nd at the IBJJF World Championships, the Kingz sponsored athlete returned at the 2018 Europeans to defend her brown belt double Gold, a dynamic guard game as well as her intense passing, she is always looking for the finish. Probably the most exciting athlete on the list.

Jaime Canuto - GFT -77kg: One of the top black belt competitors from GF Team, following on from his Bronze medals at the Worlds, where he showed some really impressive and dangerous flying attacks. Canuto has been very active competing around the world and placing third at the Europeans. Having just come off a strong win in the UAEJJF Swiss National Pro beating Adam Wardzinski, watch out for him to continue this momentum at the Grand Slam.
Adam Wardzinski - Checkmat -94kg: Probably the top European athlete at Black belt, Adam is currently ranked second in the world in the UAEJJF rankings. After strong performances in the past year including a win over Erberth Santos on ACB and placing third at the Europeans he will most likely be the one to claim the u94kg crown at the UAEJJF London Grand Slam.
Max Lindblad - Prana Jiu Jitsu -85kg: Winner of the brown belt division at the 2017 London grand slam, Max Lindblad returns in 2018 as a black belt. Known for his killer guard game he has already made a splash at European Black belt divisions, winning the IBJJF German Nationals along with the IBJJF London Fall open.
Ana Carolina Srour - GF Team -70kg: Last years UAEJJF World Pro Champion, this woman has dominated her divisions, going on to win the IBJJF Worlds in the same year in dominating fashion reminiscent of her older brother Rodolfo Vieira. She continued her success on the UAEJJF Circuit winning both the Los Angeles and Rio grand slams.
